What is the best Nikon camera that is cheap?

What is the best camera that Nikon is not too expensive but high quality? I'm really into photography, especially nature such as sunsets and storms, but too many people and I am looking for a new camera. I'm not 100% sure if Nikon in the best type of camera but I've always been interested in them. If someone is a photographer and has some advice on which camera to look and what worked for them would be wonderful. Thank you so much! Nobody likes to be limited by a budget, especially not me, and even more so by the wife. But hey, that's a story for another discussion.
