I want to get a fish eye for my Canon EOS Rebel, I would really love to achieve this effect

The SD850 IS was first announced in May 2007 as a replacement for the Powershot SD700 IS. It constitutes only a relatively subtle upgrade.

Visually the SD850 is virtually indistinguishable from the older model, and there are only a handful of modifications to the specification of the camera. Most notably the sensor now records 8MP images instead of 6 and the resolution of the 2.5" screen has been increased to 230,000 pixels. The 'digital heart' beating in the SD850 is now the latest generation of Canon's imaging processor, the DIGIC III. With the new processor there come a couple of new features too: Face Detection and the useful Auto ISO shift option.

Design:-

# Front: - The front of the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS is branded on the left side with a textured metal Canon logo and a printed model name. The right side of the camera’s front is a little busier. The optical zoom lens takes up most of this side. The lens sits flat with the rest of the camera body until it is turned on: it then extends in three segments. Each segment has a shiny chrome ring around its edge.

# Left side:-The left side of the SD850 doesn’t have any features. There are dark, medium, and light silver panels and two tiny screws.

# Back: - The left side of the back features a 2.5-inch LCD screen surrounded by a darker silver-colored panel. The panel unifies the LCD screen with another viewing tool, the optical viewfinder, directly above it. To the right of the optical viewfinder are two small LED indicator lamps. Just right of these is a small power button with its own LED.

# Top: - The shutter button is on the top of the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS. It is mildly domed, outfitted in chrome, and surrounded by a zoom ring that hardly moves at all. On the left side of the top is an "Image Stabilizer" label. Beneath the label are five holes that make up the speaker grill.

# Right side:-The right side has a chrome wrist strap eyelet in the center that curves up ever so slightly. A niche beneath it makes stringing the strap a little less of a chore. Near the top is a plastic door held on by a thin rubber strip. It covers the A/V out port on top and the USB port on bottom. Behind it is a tiny space big enough for the tip of a fingernail to pry the door open.

# Bottom: - From the bottom, users can see the slight wedge shape of the SD850. The wedge is interrupted by the fat panel for the LCD screen. Near the right side is a quarter-inch metal tripod socket surrounded by little bumps to keep the camera from scratching on a tripod mounting plate.

Photo quality: - Photo quality was very good on the SD850 IS. The camera took well-exposed photos, with pleasing, accurate colors. Sharpness is right in the middle: not too sharp, not too soft (and this can be adjusted if you desire). Noise is minimal until you hit ISO 400, with the ISO 800 setting being usable for small prints (ISO 1600 on the other hand, is not). Purple fringing was not a problem. The negatives in the image quality department include noticeable corner blurriness and severe redeye, both of which are common in the ultra-compact class. While there's not much you can do about the blurriness (you won't see it in all but the largest prints, though), you can use the tool in playback mode to get rid of the redeye.

Performance: - Camera performance is excellent. The SD850 is ready to shoot in about a second, which is above average. Focusing times were very good, even in low light situations. Shutter lag wasn't an issue, and shot-to-shot delays were minimal. While the burst rate isn't terribly high, the SD850 can keep shooting at 1.3 frames/second until your high speed memory card fills up. Battery life was average in the ultra-compact group and, like all Canon cameras; the SD850 supports the USB 2.0 High Speed standard.

This camera is a great little convenient camera, which is able to be concealed easily, and taken about anywhere because it easily slips into a purse or pocket. It's a great camera for taking indoor portraits with flash, as well as outdoor photos. It is not good at stopping action.

Pictures of kids and pets running around will often be blurry because of the 1/60 sec. shutter speed. If you need to take low-light or action/sports photos, you would be better off purchasing a cheap DSLR. The only reason I don't give this camera 5 stars is because of the noise at higher ISO's.

Canon 50mm F/2.5 Ef Compact Macro Lens

One of the best lenses that I would recommend for your Canon EOS camera would be the Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens. While this lens has its drawbacks, it's an unbeatable value for the money.

This lens was one of the first lenses that Canon released with the EOS system in 1987, so it's been in production for over 20 years. As such, this lens is rather high-quality compared to lenses designed today. It has a metal lens mount, and a very sturdy plastic body. This is a standard EF lens, meaning that it will work on any Canon EOS camera, digital or film - this includes newer digital cameras such as the Digital Rebel series, EOS 10D/20D/30D/40D, and high-end cameras such as the EOS 1D and 5D.

This lens is (as the name implies) rather compact and lightweight, so it's easy to carry around. Focusing is very reliable, but a little noisier and slower than newer EF lenses. Optics in this lens are very high-quality, and allow for beautiful photos.

The lens allows for macro focusing of objects up to a ratio of 1:2 life size. What this means is that the smallest objects that the lens can focus will be recorded on your film (or in the case of a digital camera, image sensor) at half their real-life size. This lens also allows for infinity focus, a capability that some macro lenses lack. This means that you can use this lens as a regular 50mm lens. In addition to photography of small objects, it is excellent for practically everything. Its narrow depth of field allows for a beautiful "bokeh" effect which is wonderful for portraits!

Some more expensive macro lenses can focus at "life-size", meaning that the smallest objects that can be focused will be recorded on the film or image sensor at the same size that they are in real-life. Alone, the Compact Macro lacks this capability. However, you can purchase the Canon Life-Size Converter, which will allow for you to focus up to life-size, allowing you to take even more detailed photographs of tiny objects!

Overall, the Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens is an unbeatable value for what you get, and an essential must-have for any Canon EOS owner that can afford it!

Camera 500D - Amazing Camera, Canon Rules

My Requirements for a DSLR were as below:

1. High Resolution LCD Screen.
2. Great/Easy to use - User Interface.
3. HD Video - 720 (30FPS) - (1080 was optional for me).
4. Live View.
5. Amazing Image Quality.
6. Comprehensive Software Package.
7. Large Variety of Lens options.
8. Performance.
9. Obviously, Cost (
In the curent market, i narrowed down to 2 cameras - Canon EOS 500D/Camera 500D or Nikon D5000 (Since i trust both brands for amazing image quality).

Canon EOS 500D Scored over Nikon in below areas:

1. LCD Screen 3inch 920,000 dot compared to Nikon's 2.7inch 230,000. For me high resolution screen is very important to enjoy the pics in the camera itself and obviously for better judgement of the focus. I bet, you will fall in love with Camera 500D, immidietly after seeing pics in its brilliant LCD screen.

2. I verified both Ti1 and D5000 user interface and i felt Camera 500D's user interface/menus were well organised keeping in mind of the entry level DSLR users. Again i love this on Camera 500D.

3. I have seen many people complaining about Camera 500D's 1080 (20 FPS) HD video. But Nikon doesn't even have this feature. And Camera 500D has HD video 720 at 30 FPS which is a treat to eyes when you see it on HDTV. But Nikon provides 720 at just 24 FPS.

4. Both has Live View - Here Camera 500D has the advantage of better resolution screen and D5000 has Lower resolution vari angle screen. My preferenece was high resolution screen.

5. Image Quality, I am very very happy about the Super sharp images of Canon Camera 500D. My interest is mainly Macro and Landscape. And Camera 500D gives me Amazing Quality images (I don't believe much in camera reviews) combined with Canon's brilliant lenses.

6. Canon's provides the best - with camera software package. Digital Photo Professional, EOS Utility, Photostitch and many more are very simple to use and powerful tools and provides necessary inventory for more than basic image editing (Don't compare this with specialized photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop).

7. Again Canon has the most comprehensive Lens set to choose compared to Nikon (Again don't bring in the theory of 3rd party lenses). I own the kit lens, Canon 100mm Macro, Canon 10mm super wide angle. And these leses combined with Camera 500D produce breathtaking images.

8. When it comes to performance, Camera 500D has got very great start up time, fast focus and good continious burst (9RAW/170 JPEGS at 3.4 FPS) which satisfies my needs. Nikon D5000 can shoot at 4FPS.

9. Cost wise, Camera 500D is cheaper than Nikon D90 and Canon 50D.

I have read many reviews comparing Camera 500D and D5000, saying Nikon has better Low light performance. It may be true, but Camera 500D produces brilliant pics till ISO3200 (Nikon may produce little better than this at same ISO range), but I use my camera very less for low light photograpy and Canon Camera 500D's JPEG quality in normal light is a very sharp, captures more detail due to its 15MP resolution and it is better than that of Nikon D5000.

Handling wise i never felt Camera 500D as bad. It has a great grip and due to its less weight, it is very portable compared to Nikon D5000.

Final word:

For my use/requirements Canon Camera 500D fits perfectly and it produces Amazing Super sharp images with market leading feature set for an Entry level DSLR. Camera 500D has many improvements compared to that of 450D XSi keeping the similar (Better JPEG quality - compared to both 450D XSi and 50D) image quality and it is way ahead of Nikon D5000.

Hats off to Canon for giving a Brilliant Entry Level DSLR again.

Camera 500D - Camera Class With A Few Limitations

I have bought with the camera after my Panasonic FZ28 Super Zoom camera was broken and I had to return because of that.

I bought the camera with the 18-200 mm lens. Since I had done it before, almost 1 year with the Panasonic pictures, I was able to compare the well.

+ Unbeatable class is the Image Stabilizer in the Canon lens. At 200 mm Tele 1 / 15 second from the hand is pixel scharf possible.

+ The high ISO capability of the Canon is also class. ISO 1600 images are good. Here, the FC can not keep up 28th

+ Apart from the noise at high ISO values, I was quite surprised that the Panasonic picture quality is not noticeably worse than the Canon, particularly if the lens is fully turned up the CANON. Really bad is the Canon lens in the range of 135 mm.

+ Full HD videos are recorded at a frame rate of 20 fps. This is not really a restriction. Through a format converter you can increase the frame rate to 30 fps. The images run the stable. Since the Canon selects a low compression ratio that goes without sacrificing quality.

+ The automatic programs of the Panasonic to work better than the Canon. My wife, who prefer to simply press the shutter button makes Biler worse, as the face of the Canon far too lame and is therefore unusable. I have some pictures in which the petals in the foreground sharp, the 5 children are behind the flower, however, blurred. The fully automatic mode, the Panasonic is the automatically selects the scene modes, better.

+ The Live View mode, of course, the Panasonic can not be used for the automatic programs for CANON. Be brought into focus here must be done manually by pressing a button. For me as an "advanced amateur" is the seeker a good thing. My wife would prefer to watch on the monitor, which is not suitable due to the manual focusing for snapshots.

+ Image and sound quality of the videos are even better on the Canon. However, here again, the Panasonic expensive compared to much more user. With the Canon I have an extra Tactile pressure  aware Sharpen. The automatic tracking of work as well as not.  De facto have to manually put sharp.

For the excellent camera, I give 4 stars. Since the user-friendliness is not on the level of a much cheaper Super zoom camera, I subtract a star. A digital SLR for the consumer market must, in my opinion, also has a corresponding automatic feature.
