A digital camera takes pictures in a digital format, unlike a conventional camera that captures images with a photographic film.

History:

Demonstrated with a mosaic photosensor, Eugene F. Lally of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the first, as could still photos in a digital world are manufactured. A technician at Eastman Kodak, Steve Sasson, used solid-state - CCD chips to build a prototype digital camera with a resolution of 0.01 megapixels, and control digital black and white images, on a magnetic tape. With this prototype model, Steve is the first image in December 1975 under 23 seconds to capture it.

In 1988, Fuji DS-1P was first digital camera that recorded images as a computerized file. But the camera never in the U.S. market. In 1991, Kodak DCS-100 was the first commercially available digital camera, a 1.3-megapixel sensor used. With the advancement of technology, modern digital cameras have become multifunctional and are now capable of capturing audio / video and still photographs.

Advantages:

5 - you can see the pictures by e-mail to your friends. You can the images via e-mail to your loved ones.

6 - You can save the images to CDs or hard disk. Once the images transmitted from the digital camera to the computer, lasting Stored on a CD or disk are possible.

7 - You can move the camera in your pocket while you're away. The small size of the digital camera makes it easy to travel with and a pleasure.

8 - you can move in close to your subject. Zoom lenses offer close-ups of your subject with sharpness. You can pretty well near Winder from flowers, insects, stamps, coins, etc.

9 - you can rework the image in a computer. Each photo-editing software can rework the images taken.

10 - you can good shots in low light conditions. Through flexible than or equivalent ISO sensitivity, digital cameras can easily take detailed pictures even in low light conditions.

11 - you can still take quality photos of themselves moving objects. Sports and fashion photography can be easily reached by the fast burst rate of digital cameras.

12 - you save money. There is no need for the purchase of photographic film, their involvement in negatives and positives. In addition, the batteries are usually rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that last a long time Time.

13 - you can on your needs and imagination. Many models are like standard digital camera available, underwater digital camera, waterproof digital camera, compact digital camera and professional digital camera.

Storage:

Digital cameras use memory to capture and store images. Some the storage media will be used onboard flash memory, 3.5 "floppy disks, video floppy disk, PCMCIA hard drives, CD or DVD, CompactFlash memory cards, Microdrives, Memory Stick, SD / MMC, miniSD Card, SD Card, xD-Picture Card, SmartMedia, Memory, and FP.

Output:

Digital cameras consume a lot of energy supplied is, by powerful, small batteries. The batteries are divided broadly into two groups, namely-the-shelf and are copyrighted. Off-the-shelf batteries are like AA, CR2, CR-V3, AAA, and RCR-V3. They are lithium-ion (Li-Ion) or nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. Standard non-rechargeable AA alkaline batteries either do not work or work for only a very short time in most cameras.

Proprietary batteries are built according to the manufacturer `s custom specifications and are usually as the worldwide aftermarket. General use, lithium-ion batteries are generally regarded as proprietary batteries for digital cameras.

What is the best and cheapest way to transfer the age of 40 digital slides to disk?

I have over 100 slides of my time a soldier in Korea and Vietnam. I do not want to spend a lot of money. Some are as old the're starting to fade. HELP!

That would be great that keeps the slides for the next generation. As boco man said ... most scanners to do the job, but the average price is $ 250.00 for a good flatbed scanner. Check out this website, they charge $ 0.24 per slide. Not bad. http://scancafe.com/index_adwords1.php?gclid=CNjqyuG1mIgCFREDGAodTx6TNA

Why are there so many people saying that computer users should know how to clean free disk space? If there is a lot of people recommend this way, this fact should be worthy of your attention. For the most part, people assume that this is necessary, simply because no sense wasting space on your hard drive. Therefore, it is important to how to clean up disk space, right? Yes, this is true in part because it would be a pity to waste space on unnecessary files and such. However, this is not the only reason that you should look in this endeavor. Indeed, the focus of this task is really data security. Yes, the safety data. This certainly can attract anyone's attention.

When you delete a particular file in a folder, the file is transferred to your PC's Recycle Bin. Emptying the Recycle Bin, the file would be removed from your hard drive. Physically, it is. This is because the memory or the space the deleted file once occupied - both in your wallet home and in the recycle bin - still exists. While this area still exists, it becomes much easier and feasible for any hacker to pick up the pieces file and then put them back together piece by piece. Hackers can be very resourceful, especially when they're not going to get vital records and all information so it is important that you not give them the opportunity.

Next, install cleaner disk space on your PC so you can take that additional step necessary to secure your data. But before a solicitation to buy off the market, we will first discuss how it works. When you delete a particular file, its practical application digitally wipes the space the file used to occupy. Clean off is done by overwriting the space again and again until you have more fragments of the deleted file. The best that even the most experienced hacker can do is recover the digital smaller fragments of the deleted file. Even if the hacker is able to reach many of these digital bits, it is still very difficult to reconstruct all together into a coherent whole. The most sophisticated computer software or is needed to achieve something, literally everything. Therefore, it is not really much of a return on investment to start any hacker.

When you decide to get your own application, be sure to get one with the features you need. To ensure this, go to applications that offer free trial periods to allow sufficient time to sample all the features offered by the programs. Check whether the interface operates according to its rules, thus. Finally, be sure to clear applications for the purchase of free disk space reputable sellers and distributors. In this way, you are sure to have a good investment in your hands.

Resolution

The amount of detail a camera can capture is called the resolution, measured in pixels. Pixels and a camera, detail, one can take more and larger photos can be without becoming blurry or "grainy". The high end consumer cameras can capture more 12 million pixels. Some professional cameras support over 16 million pixels (megapixels) or 20 million pixels for large chambers format. In comparison, it was felt that the quality of 35mm film is approximately 20 million pixels.

Screen

To taste film with a digital camera to control the amount of light reaching the sensor. The two elements used by opening and shutter speed are also present in conventional cameras.

Aperture: The size of the aperture of the camera. The aperture is automatic in most digital cameras, but some allow manual adjustment to give professionals and hobbyists more control over the final image.

Shutter speed: The amount of time that light can pass through the opening. Unlike film, the light sensor in a digital camera can be reset by electronic, digital cameras have digital tier mode rather than a mechanical shutter.

These two aspects work together to capture the amount of light to make a good image. In the picture which began with the exposure of the sensor.

Besides controlling the amount of light, the camera lens to adjust the light control how focused on the sensor. In general, digital camera lenses are very similar to conventional camera lenses - some digital cameras can even use the lenses conventional. Most techniques use auto focus point.

The focal length, however, a significant difference between the lens the camera and lens on a 35mm camera. The focal length is the distance between the lens and the sensor surface. Sensors from different manufacturers vary greatly in size, but are generally smaller than a piece of 35mm film. To project the image onto a smaller sensor, the focal length is shortened by the same proportion.

Focal length also determines the extension or zoom, when looking through the camera. 35 mm, 50 mm lens provides a natural view of matter. Increasing the focal length increases the magnification, and objects appear closer. The opposite occurs when the focal length decreases. A zoom is a goal that is adjustable focal length, and digital cameras can have optical or digital zoom - some have. Some cameras also have macro focusing power, which means that the device can take pictures very close to the subject.

Digital cameras are one of four types of lenses:

Fixed focus 1), sets zoom lenses - These are the types of lenses and disposable cameras cheap - cheap and great for pictures, but rather limited.

Goals 2) The optical zoom with auto focus - similar to the lens of a video camera, have "large" and "telephoto" options and automatic focus. The camera may or may not support manual focus. Actually changing the focal length of the lens, and not only the information that affects the sensor.

3) zoom lenses Digital - The digital zoom, the camera takes pixels from the center of the image sensor and interpolates (changes) to make one-size image. According to the resolution of the sensor image, this approach in May to create a blurred or fuzzy image. You can manually do the same with software for image processing - simply take a picture, cut the center and expand.

4) Replaceable lens systems - which are similar to the interchangeable lenses on a 35mm camera. Some digital cameras can use lenses 35 mm camera.

The image storage

Most digital cameras have an LCD screen for you to view images immediately. This is one of the biggest advantages of a digital camera - to obtain immediate information on what you write. Of course, looking at the picture on your camera to lose its charm if all he could do. You want to be able to upload the image to your computer or send it directly to a printer. There are several ways to do so.

Although most Today's cameras are capable of connecting through serial, parallel, SCSI, USB or FireWire connections, also tend to use some type of storage device removable. Digital cameras use a number of storage systems. They seem disposable, digital cinema, and use a cart or card reader to transfer data to a computer. Many involve fixed or removable flash memory. The digital camera manufacturers have developed their own proprietary mechanisms flash memory cards, including SmartMedia cards, CompactFlash cards and Memory Sticks. Other removable storage device: floppy disks, hard drives (external or Microdrive), and CD and DVD discs.

No matter what type of storage they use, all digital cameras need lots of space for photos. In general, store the images in two formats - TIFF, that is uncompressed and JPEG, which is compressed. Most cameras use the JPEG file format for storing images, and offer quality parameters (as a means or high).

To make the most of your storage space, almost all digital cameras use some kind of additional data compression make the files smaller. A compression routine takes advantage of repeating patterns. The image can be reconstructed as it was recorded, which reduces the size File does not exceed 50%, often much less. Another irrelevance called routine compression eliminates some of the more meaningful data, exploiting the fact that the cameras digital registration details that the human eye can easily detect.
