What's the best overall target for Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera?
I'm about to buy a Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera and can not decide what lens to get. The lens that comes with not enough zoom for me. I usually photos of my children and I want something as versatile as I am not having to switch lenses all the time. Suggestions?

Whatever you do, do not ask a Nikon / Sony / Pentax SLR owner, "What is the best camera Canon digital SLR should I buy?". Photo enthusiasts tend to be incredibly brand loyal, and talk endlessly about why their particular brand is the best of all time. . . and always will be. . . forever and ever amen! Someone who owns several cameras brand, and owes its allegiance to one brand would probably be a better person to ask. Well. . . since you ask, Let's have a look to us.
For the first time SLR owners, Canon is one of the best selling and most critically reviews the SLR entry level ever. I would of course make reference to the Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR digital camera (~ $ 650). Its predecessor was the Canon Digital Rebel XT (still available ~ $ 450), and is the successor (who recently announced but not yet available), the Canon Digital Rebel XSi ($ 800 ~?). If you have never owned an SLR before, and are a little nervous about taking the plunge, you really can not go wrong with any model of Canon's Rebel range. Your final choice of these three cameras will really come down to a compromise between price and newer technology. They are all capable of taking great pictures, and every experienced photographer you say, the most important element of any camera is the ability of the person with his finger on the trigger.
For those who have budget a little more, the Canon EOS 30D or Canon EOS 40D are both excellent choices. Kit lenses better, less image noise, and an LCD is more enjoyable some of the features you will find little. There are more manual controls to tweak, if a learning curve is steeper to predict. Checks most are nice however, as the potential of artistic expression is greatly increased. The 30D and 40D are both around the diligence of $ 1,300 to $ 1,500 dollar mark, on a regular basis is a key factor for your process of shopping here. In other words, make sure you know the differences.
