Nikon D50 with zoom lens and wide angle.Best mode of action to take pictures w / out flash? Go on a dolphin cruise?

Tonight I'm going on a cruise dolphins. I wonder what camera settings should be on. I have a Nikon D50 with the two included wide angle lens and a zoom lens. What Values must be in my camera? How can I get good action photos. This will not be dark, but the lighting of my being a bit weak. I would like the Most photos of the dolphins without flash .. How can I do that without it being blurry? Anything would be very useful, thanks! Http: / / flickr.com/photos/9862751 @ N05/1342903124 / how do I get that kind of picture and how can I avoid grainy-ness? also How can I get pictures like this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/24414299 @ N02 / is mostly editing? I know is taken with a D80

Forget the wide angle and focus on tele-zoom lenses. The more zoom the better. I will assume its long zoom and is 200 mm or 300 mm in the long end. I recently went on a small boat to see offshore marine life and captured some images of Nice otters and sea lions with a 400mm. The problem with the dolphins (I missed many) were not "pose" as a marine park and are constantly moving. Try to anticipate in which will surface and shoot rapidfire, hoping to capture the moment in one or more of them. Learn how to get ready, holding the camera and corrective lenses, and observe the motion of the boat. Practice standing with one leg behind the other, minimizing the vertical movement of the camera. Recommend move up to ISO 800 or less, then using the noise reduction software afterwards. Good luck and enjoy!

The public perception of anyone with a camera in his hand in and around places of public interest, was forever changed as a result of 11 September 2001.

It did not help that the paparazzi contributed to the death of Princess Diana.

The hordes of paparazzi through her dogged pursuit of their prey, contributed to his premature death and, ultimately, have lost a source of income.

However, if you are an observer of people like me, the changes in attitudes should not deter him from continuing the street or candid photography of people.

Psychology 101

1. To ask or not to ask.
Most people in public places do not mind being photographed if asked.

But sometimes asking first, the ruins of time, especially if that something they are doing is spur of the moment.

Shooting your photos first, then my advice is ask for forgiveness if that's the case.

But under no circumstances should flee when discovered as if you did something wrong. My years as a photojournalist has taught me no 2 situations are alike.

You probably do not want to read it, I know. But it's true.

Here's why. If you ask first and say no, then run the risk of tipping them off.

Hamming will then either intentionally for you, or will you stop and growl.

2. Being a good player

Just remember, if you are not happy with his presence with the camera, being a good player and move on.

Most times if kept calm, smile and explain himself, saying something like: "I took the picture because it seemed such a special moment between his wife or girlfriend and you."

I had asked before hand, but I do not want to interrupt their spontaneous manifestation of the affection.

Put yourself in their shoes for a moment and see if you do not want a great picture of you and the love of your life making out in a wonderful setting.

Take no for an answer unless you're a paparazzi in training.

Never was so insistent on photographing someone to the point that they consider a stalker.

Even if the law says no one should expect privacy in places audience not give you any special right to point, literally, a camera in someone's face.

3. Be sure to smile and seems easy.

When you're walking around with his camera and long range lenses, as eye contact distance, distance and avoid or lurking around the body language is bad. It suggests he is hiding what he is doing, so it's a no-no.

You are involved in a fun activity, it's not illegal.

Is it necessary to elaborate on their attire as well? So if your wardrobe is just one coat, hats and big sunglasses, because you is sensitive to the sun, you might consider a different type of photography.

With these caveats the way, here are some suggestions on equipment and technique.

TEAM

A telephoto and wide angle.

A telephoto lens is a necessity, something in the range of 80 mm to 200 mm works well.

The lens, even with the hood does not appear that imposing.

As longer focal lengths of 300 mm or more, Of course, the better, but surely stick out like a sore thumb.

Another objective of the necessity is wide-angle 15 mm or 16 mm camera has a factor increase and has no full-size sensor.

When you're in a group and can not move back, wide-angle lens is more versatile and more easy work, especially if it is a zoom.

Wide angles also allow you to shoot from the hip without raising the camera to your eye for moonlighting truth.

Digital SLR cameras work better than point and shoot cameras. But if a point and shoot is all you have, shoot mostly focal length quality and give you the larger file size. Do not use the digital zoom.

You want to use the maximum optical zoom and also its quality or compression lower gives the largest file size.

TECHNICAL

Set your exposure to lighting conditions beforehand.

This is all part of being ready. When shooting in the streets, you have little or no time to fiddle with the aperture and shutter speeds.

Most people think that they need to do this with cameras of today, because of all automatic and autofocus modes.

I recommend to adjust the exposure manually, all the camera has to do is focus when you press the shutter speed the process.

If you set the camera automatic, the camera has more than one operation, the decision what combination of shutter speed and aperture to establish simultaneously trying focus on your subject. And that is slowing things down.

As you know he wants to emphasize the person and what they are doing, you will be using large aperture to blur the distractions in the background and foreground.

Remember that not too aggressive when taking photographs of people in public.

The law said no one should expect privacy in public places. But when a mother concerned about the flags of a policeman, because you are taking pictures of herself and her son in the park public is more than likely be asked to stop or leave.

The First Amendment protects freedom of expression, which means that no officer the law can prevent photography or filming on the street or anywhere else that is considered public property.

In practice, we all know some police can get overzealous and heavy-handed just because they're the ones with the guns and handcuffs.
