Leash Walking
Most of us need to walk with our dogs on leash, at least occasionally. And if hiking are primary output of your dog to exercise, you take your dog on a leash every day.
For this reason, when training a puppy is important to educate your dog to walk safely and calmly while leaves. The goal is let loose, which means that when walks on a leash, your dog does not pull or strain. Here are some tips to help you.
Getting used to a collar
Before you can start the training tips basic puppy, your puppy must first get used to wearing a collar and leash. Dogs usually become accustomed to it quickly enough. In the first case, buy a soft collar - a fact of braided nylon or leather, for example. Do not buy a collar for the dog to turn, but buy one that fits now.
Put an hour at the beginning and gradually increase the duration. This is a great help to put the collar just before taking the puppy or if your dog is sensitive to that, just before it is given food. Your puppy is then so busy eating or playing that he forgets the necklace.
How to train a puppy to walk on a leash
Once your dog used to his collar, you can attach a leash. Do not lift the leaves yet, but allow your puppy to walk with him, so he can get used to it. When it is acclimated, take the puppy outside and encourage him to walk with you. Do not pull on the leash, but coax your dog with good words or a tasty treat. Some puppies react very strongly when they find that their freedom is restricted and they continue to try to escape. Praise the dog extensively when it does not resist.
Rewarding good position
The main thing you need to do to form a loose leaves is rewarding your dog to stay in a position that is close enough that you the leaves are not strained. Treat foods are an excellent tool for this: Each time your dog walks nicely - The leash is loose - say "Yes" and give your dog a treat.
If your dog is putting pressure on the leash, stop and wait until she looks at you and get closer to you. When she do, say, "Yes" and give him a treat.
You can also use the yes / address combination when your puppy looks to you for Drive. This is a great way to strengthen its "investigation" to see where you are.
