I'd liketo buy the PANASONIC LUMIX GF-1 camera kit - preferably white body, perhaps silver, w/20mm f1/7 lens and boxed accessories. Must have English language option for menus. What reputable online retailer has this in stock, will sell this to me, and ship it to Canada? Panasonic has just introduced it with 4 colors in most of the world... yet in Canada they offer it only in Black!

I am interested in the same information (i.e. white body w/20mm f1.7 lens and accessories) possibly also with the white EVF. The retailer has to be outside of North America as the white version is not available here.

the kit lens gives a nice range of wide to mild telephoto. To get more out of your camera, I would suggest getting a true telephoto lens. The 70-200 f4.0 IS is a great lens. If you can't afford that, the non-IS is also great value.

Black and white photography is a number of monochrome forms in visual art. Monochrome comes from the Greek monochromos meaning "of one colour", which is a combination of monos, meaning "alone" or "solitary" and chroma meaning "colour".

For Many decades black and white photography dominated the scene until colour was introduced. It was not until the 17thCentury, 1727 to be exact, when Professor J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask, that the first photosensitive compound was created. In the past black and white dominated the media. Movies, television and even computers, were all monochrome. It was not until the middle of the 20th century that colour photography became popular.

While some subjects can look amazing in colour, they often look dull in black and white. Black and white photography is both the simplest and most sophisticated of all the photography disciplines. It is, honest, fresh, crisp and clean and can result in the most powerful imagery. Capitalising on its popularity, black and white photography holds its own when it comes to photographic exhibitions. Such powerful imagery can be timeless and compelling at the same time. It captures emotions, impressions, and atmosphere that depict nostalgia in a dramatic way.

An antenna brings you free Over The Air (OTA) signals from broadcasters. If the broadcaster is transmitting an HD signal, then you can get it in HD if you have an HDTV.

Satellite vendors and cable get the signals of local broadcasters, many times via fiber. The satellite vendor or cable companies must re-encode the signal to put it on their systems. This is a similar process to what the broadcaster has to do to transmit the signal. During this encoding, the satellite vendor or cable company can compress the signal (remove resolution) to create more room for additional channels. This is why OTA signals usually look better. During the re-encoding process, the cable companies can also change the format of the signals. Depending on what they need to do to make the signal work on the analog portion of their systems, they could "letter box" (make the picture smaller creating a black bar on the top and bottom) or "center cut" (whack off the left and right of the HD picture leaving an SD shaped picture).

In the case of satellite, the satellite receiver is actually the tuner for the system. You need the HDMI cable to connect the satellite receiver's output to your DTV, which at that point is pretty much just a monitor. You could also use component digital between the satellite receiver and the DTV.

A lot of attention is paid to the fevered competition between Sony's Blu-ray and Toshiba's HD-DVD High Definition DVD formats, but many analysts and the general public ignore the threats that high def DVD technology in general face from other technologies. Unlike the original DVD format that was introduced almost a decade ago and the video cassette technology that came before it, high def DVD's in general face competition from a number of other technologies that are threatening to make them obsolete before they even get a foothold in the market.

The most obvious source of competition comes in the form of all of the services that are offering movies in HDTV format for download over the Internet. For example, Sony's Bravia HDTV sets can display a variety of HDTV videos that can be downloaded from the Internet. While this service has the disadvantage of only working with Bravia HDTV sets, an increasing amount of HDTV content is expected to be made available and it certainly provides a glimpse of how we can expect to get our HDTV content in the future.

Another service that provides HDTV programming is Vudu. Vudu is basically a set top box that can be used to download movies from the Internet and display them in high definition on an HDTV set. The only catch with Vudu is that the device downloads the movies in standard definition format and then upconverts them to HDTV format before displaying them on the screen. This system has the advantage of conserving bandwidth for easier and faster downloads, but doesn't provide the same level of picture quality as a true HDTV download would. The Xbox 360 from Microsoft is already capable of downloading HDTV movies from the Internet, but the device is plagued by depressingly long download times- sometimes on the order of eight hours for a standard length movie! Still, these two devices make it obvious that both Sony and Microsoft (which is a backer of HD-DVD) are hedging their bets by embracing the same technology that could make their investments in High Def DVD technology a loss.

One interesting option that has been proposed for getting HDTV content in the future is providing it for consumers on compact, portable hard drives. These hard drives would be enormous in capacity and contain entire archives of movies. Instead of paying for all of these movies all at once, consumers would be able to see what's available to watch on the hard drive and then pay to have the movie that they want to watch unlocked. That way having instant access to a huge number of HDTV titles could be extremely cost effective. Of course, the disadvantage of this is that it would be difficult to add new titles to the hard drive, but maybe that's where Internet downloads could come in- to supplement a larger personal archive, rather than to provide the viewer with everything that she or he may want to watch.

I was given a camera that has a "70-300mm 1:4-5.6 macro" lens. I am trying to determine what this lens is best used for. What are it's characteristics?

THE PROS AND CONS OF USING A FOUR COLOR PROCESS

There are so many articles written about the four color process
but the question on its usefulness still requires further
explanation. There are actually three primary colors of light
that the human eyes perceive and these are red, blue and green.
So why create a four color scheme? Although the three colors can
already come up with various color mixes but the problem with
the combined colors is that it is never great when it comes to
printing on papers. And so technology calls for the creation of
colors that can solve the problem of printing on papers thus the
creation of CMYK which stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and
black.

The combination of any of the four colors would result to the
three colors of red, blue and green. Just how is this achieved?
Well, in order to come up with the yellow color, the colors red
and green are processed. The black color is the outcome of the
combination of the other three processed colors. The importance
of black in printing is that it adds intensity to printed
images.

The crude way of printing images or pictures is to break it into
its four color components by the use of a process camera as well
as four filters. The process camera is a special type of camera
which is designed for copying flat art. It makes used of a high
resolution flat field lens used to take pictures of flat
objects. The process camera also works well for line shots
images that have no gray tones, halftones or color separations.

are not of good quality. There is also the tendency for the
plates to be accidentally moved from the press which would
certainly mess up the colors.

How to fix Canon Powershot SD1100 IS?

Alright so my camera broke a couple days ago, the lens wouldn't retract and it made a buzzing noise. I tried fixing it... and it broke more, this cap thing fell off and I couldn't seem to get it back on. A few hours ago I actually "fixed" it for real, and the lens now retracts like before, the issue is the cap still won't get back. Here's a picture of what it looks like right now.
