Everything You Need to Know About Macro Camera Lenses
Macro photography is an interesting subject, just like travelling to a strange planet that has many wonderful, weird or sometimes shocking inhabitants. Normal things which have been previously taken for granted, they take a whole new look when they are viewed closely, and quite often will change the perspective of people on the wonders of the nature which surround us. This macro photography is using special lenses in order to achieve such spectacular images, also it can reproduce the smallest insect taken at life size or above. The macro lenses have normally 1:1 and up to 1:7 ratios, also are usually only built for macro photography, even though this macro facility can be included to a more general use lens.
Having many macro camera lenses out there in the market, it is crucial to choose the best one in order to achieve success in macro photography. A telephoto lens or a zoom lens can provide really great results if you are on a budget, however, true macro camera lenses can take images further to a higher level. Hence, after a lens has been bought, a photographer finds out there are unlimited sources of subjects. A fallen leaf could bring unbelievable detail, some staggering patterns or microscopic inhabitants. A spider that lives on the back door, and his many eyes, a lot of hair and striking markings can provide for the viewer that pays attention to detail many fascinating pictures. Insects, flowers and plants will start to get noticed, and short walks in the country could now last hours.
When taking pictures of insects, the distance between the camera and the subject is an important issue, so that if you are too close the tiny creature can fly away or hide, so you may be required to use a longer lens, say a 200mm, which should give you an adequate gap. Because of the nature that macro photography takes, the depth of field is limited so a steady hand is crucial in order to obtain clear images. Here, a small mono pod could be carried easily and will eliminate virtually any shake, which will enable you with the precise focus that you need in order to take sharp photos.
A strobe light also is something that is worth adding in the camera bag, especially when you try to photograph some insects, because their movement can be frozen using the strobe. Strobe lighting applied directly to the subject could be harsh, however, when you deflect it onto a reflector, it provides more natural results.
Macro photography, if combined with correct macro camera lenses, is challenging, and occasionally frustrating, however, ultimately a really rewarding branch of photography hobby, which once mastered, will amaze the friends and the family with some images which will often capture the attention longer than lots other traditional photographs.
